A panel of hip hop producers flip easily recognizable and often sampled tracks into something brand new. Frank Dukes reconstructs the Seals and Croft version of “Summer Breeze”, Marco Polo makes over Al B Sure’s “Night & Day” and Moss takes on The Bee Gees’ “Stayin Alive” to name a few. PS The host sucks.
Michigan born producer Needlz in the studio re-creating Lil Wayne’s “I’m Going In”. He shows his manipulation of sounds to make them “dirty”, and also some sounds that he created using the ProSounds Vanguard Soundsets.
Atlanta based emcee Ludacris and DJ Premier in the studio working on Luda’s 2008 Theater of the Mind album. Preem puts Ludacris in his list of top 20 emcees of all time; which includes Nas, Jay-Z, Scarface and Andre 3000. He champions Luda’s creativity and the way he made his own lane in the industry.

This video shows producer/DJ Hi-Tek (best known for his work with Talib Kweli) in the studio making a beat from scratch. He starts out recording some live drums, then moves to the MPC3000 to sequence, and even digs into the crates to find a hot violin sample. Very inspirational video for hip-hop producers especially.
This is an awesome video showing Havoc and Prodigy of Mobb Deep making music in their studio. Havoc kicks a freestyle, then takes us through the gear he uses most, including an MPC2000, MPC3000, Novation Supernova, Pro Tools and more. If you’re a fan of Mobb Deep, Havoc’s production, or just hip-hop in general, this video is definitely a must-watch.
Ty Fyffe and legendary producer and G-Unit executive Sha Money XL listening to tracks from 50 Cent’s album “Before I Self Destruct.” Most of the video is Fyffe playing beats to Sha and everybody in the studio just vibing out to them. It provides a nice glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes when you’re not actually creating.
Aftermath and Dr. Dre producer Focus sits down and makes a beat live in front of the camera. He gets down on the Akai MPC3000, Ensoniq ASR-10, and even a bass guitar. This video provides an excellent look into the steps that go into making a finished beat from start to end.
DJ Toomp sits down and bangs out a beat real quick in Atlanta.
Stevie Wonder does Superstition Live on Seasame Street… How the hell… did we get from this… to… Teletubbies?
The Godfather performs The Payback as well as some of his other classics. Only one man in the history of the world could rock clothes like that!
