R.I.P. Baseline Studios…
Another pillar of New York Hip Hop has been torn down. Just Blaze’s Baseline studios officially closed up for good last week. Over the years, a whole bunch of classic records and big hits were recorded over there. R.I.P.
I don’t really have any good Baseline stories… but one time I was really trying to get some beats to Young Guru (mix engineer). We scheduled a day for me to come through and with some tracks for him. The day after we scheduled it, I dislocated my foot playing basketball. Still I was on my motherf’ing grind, located foot or not. So I trekked downtown to Baseline with my crutches and big ass boot holding my foot piece in place & got Guru the beats… Those were the days…
